Sauber is a Swiss Formula One team that was founded in 1970 by Peter Sauber. The team started as an independent constructor and made its debut in the 1993 Formula One World Championship. Over the years, the team has had several notable drivers including Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Nick Heidfeld, and Sergio Perez. In 2005, BMW bought a controlling stake in the team and ran it as BMW Sauber until 2009. After BMW pulled out, Peter Sauber regained control of the team and it has been competing as Alfa Romeo Racing since 2019, following a sponsorship deal with the Italian car manufacturer. Despite limited success in terms of race wins and championships, Sauber has established itself as a solid midfield team and has a reputation for nurturing young talent and providing a stepping stone for future stars of the sport.
